Curator: Nina Tolstrup Danish Crafts Collection CC15 comprises unique products from 26 Danish craftspeople and designers. This year Crafts Collection, has an exciting energising addition. Alongside celebrated examples of production pieces designed and made by the craftspeople and designers in their workshops, Crafts Collection 15 features a special section dedicated to prototypes. Prototypes represent the most avant-garde form of design practice. Halfway between the craftsperson’s and designer’s initial sketch and the final product, prototypes have long shown craftspeople and designers at their most experimental. Focusing on both one-offs and prototypes in the collection will open up new business opportunities for designers and also offer a fascinating window into the design and making process. In cooperation with Danish Crafts, the Parisian department store Galeries Lafayette displays new items from Danish Crafts Collection CC15 in its show windows during the lifestyle fair and the Parisian design week in central Paris from 9 September until 1 October. Galeries Lafyette has selected products among all the exhibits at the lifestyle fair Maison et Objet in Paris and included as many as three products from Crafts Collection. Meyer-Lavigne exhibits their Need more –Think twice creatures, which is a series of savings boxes that encourages consumers to show restraint and only buy the things they really need. The products are on display at Galeries Lafayette on Boulevard Haussmann in the centre of Paris from 9 Septe mber to 1 October.
